PROGRESSIVE RURAL-URBAN DISPARITY IN ACUTE STROKE CARE

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Gonzales et al, the participant should be able to:

  • Discuss differences in tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) utilization for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) seen at urban and rural hospitals in this study
  • Describe trends in the utilization of tPA for AIS at rural hospitals between 2001 and 2010
  • Identify states in which the greatest disparity between rural and urban hospitals was observed in regards to tPA administration
