OUTCOME AFTER SURGICAL OR CONSERVATIVE MANAGEMENT OF CEREBRAL CAVERNOUS MALFORMATIONS

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Moultrie et al, the participant should be able to:

  • State the risk of new or recurrent intracerebral hemorrhage in patients with cerebral cavernous malformations (CCM)
  • Recognize that there have been few studies comparing surgical management to conservative management of CCM
  • Discuss the findings from this study comparing outcome after surgical management versus conservative management of CCM

LOWER NEUROCOGNITIVE FUNCTION IN U-2 PILOTS: RELATIONSHIP TO WHITE MATTER HYPERINTENSITIES

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by McGuire et al, the participant should be able to:

  • List the symptoms of neurologic decompression sickness (NDCS)
  • Recognize that previous studies have shown that high altitude pilots have an increased number of subcortical T2-weighted white matter hyperintensities
  • Discuss the findings for this study assessing neurocognitive function in U-2 pilots and its relationship to white matter hyperintensities
