CUTANEOUS Α-SYNUCLEIN SIGNATURES IN PATIENTS WITH MULTIPLE SYSTEM ATROPHY AND PARKINSON DISEASE

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Gibbons et al, the participant should be able to:
  • Identify patient groups in whom the intraepidermal nerve fiber densities on skin biopsy samples were lowest in this study
  • Describe how the topography of phosphorylated α-synuclein deposition on skin biopsy samples differed between patients with multiple system atrophy (MSA) and patients wtih Parkinson disease (PD) in this study
  • Discuss how specific cutaneous markers were best able to discriminate between a diagnosis of MSA and a diagnosis of PD in this study
