LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Wiggs et al, the participant should be able to:

  • Identify common comorbid conditions and patient factors that were seen more commonly among women who reported use of serotonergic antidepressants during pregnancy in this study

  • State the rate at which children exposed to serotonergic antidepressant medications during pregnancy were diagnosed with epilepsy during the first 5 years of life in this study

  • Describe how the association between exposure to serotonergic antidepressants during pregnancy and subsequent diagnosis of epilepsy was affected by the adjustment for pregnancy-related, maternal, and paternal factors in this study
