RISK OF AUTISM AFTER PEDIATRIC ISCHEMIC STROKE: A NATIONWIDE COHORT STUDY

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Sundelin et al, the participant should be able to:

  • Describe the degree to which a prior pediatric ischemic stroke did or did not increase the risk of a subsequent diagnosis of autism in this study
  • Identify comorbid medical conditions that were associated with a higher risk of being diagnosed with autism following pediatric ischemic stroke in this study
  • Discuss how a history of preterm birth and/or small for gestational age (SGA) status influenced the relationship between pediatric ischemic stroke and subsequent diagnosis of autism in this study
