VALIDATION OF SERUM NEUROFILAMENTS AS PROGNOSTIC AND POTENTIAL PHARMACODYNAMIC BIOMARKERS FOR ALS

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Benatar et al., the participant should be able to:

  • Identify characteristics of patients with ALS that were associated with higher serum levels of neurofilament light chain (NfL) in this study

  • Describe the correlation of serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) neurofilament levels of various neurofilaments across different testing platforms in this study

  • Discuss how various neurofilaments—measured at baseline and in both serum and CSF—were associated with survival in ALS patients in this study
