ASYMPTOMATIC OPTIC NERVE LESIONS: AN UNDERESTIMATED CAUSE OF SILENT RETINAL ATROPHY IN MS

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Davion et al., the participant should be able to:

  • Identify the proportion of eyes not previously affected by optic neuritis (ON) in which abnormal signal was found on double inversion recovery (DIR) imaging of the optic nerve in this study

  • Discuss how results of optical coherence tomography testing differed among patients with and without asymptomatic DIR optic nerve lesions in this study

  • Describe how the presence of asymptomatic optic nerve DIR lesions was associated with changes on brain MRI in this cohort of patients with multiple sclerosis
