DETECTION OF SUBTLE GAIT DISTURBANCE AND FUTURE FALL RISK IN EARLY MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Brandstadter et al, the participant should be able to:
  • State the proportion of patients with early multiple sclerosis (MS) in this study who, despite low disability scores and normal gait speed, reported at least mild subjective gait dysfunction
  • Describe which baseline measures of gait and balance function were most predictive of fall risk over the subsequent year in this study of patients with early MS
  • Discuss the relationship between MS disease burden on MRI and patient performance on various tests of gait and balance function, including subjective gait function, found in this study
