LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Peters et al, the participant should be able to:

  • Discuss how the use of different antihypertensive classes was associated with a lower risk of incident dementia amongst older adults (>65 years) in this study
  • Explain the association between diuretic use for antihypertensive therapy and incident risk of dementia amongst older adults in this study
  • Describe how use of any antihypertensive medication, relative to use of no antihypertensive medication, decreased the risk of dementia in this study
