ELEVATED CEREBROSPINAL FLUID TOTAL TAU IN FORMER PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES WITH MULTIPLE CONCUSSIONS
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the article by Taghdiri et al, the participant should be able to:
- Describe how total tau (t-tau) levels measured in the CSF differed among healthy controls, former athletes with a history of multiple concussions, and patients with Alzheimer disease (AD) in this study
- Identify specific neuropsychological assessments in which athletes with elevated CSF t-tau levels performed worse than athletes with normal t-tau levels in this study
- Discuss how white matter integrity, as measured by fractional anisometry on diffusion tensor imaging, differed among former athletes with elevated CSF t-tau levels and those with normal levels in this study
