MUSCLE AND NOT NEURONAL BIOMARKERS CORRELATE WITH SEVERITY IN SPINAL AND BULBAR MUSCULAR ATROPHY

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Lombardi et al, the participant should be able to:

  • Describe how plasma levels of neurofilament light chain (NfL) varied across cohorts of patients with spinal bulbar muscular atrophy (SBMA) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in this study
  • Describe how plasma levels of creatine kinase (CK) varied across cohorts of patients with SBMA and ALS in this study
  • Identify which neuronal and/or muscle biomarkers were correlated with severity of disease in patients with SBMA in this study
