Upon completion of the article by James et al, the participant should be able to:

  • Describe the rate of cognitive decline in patients admitted for elective hospitalizations in this study, and how this differed from patients who were not hospitalized
  • Describe the rate of cognitive decline in patients admitted for nonelective hospitalizations in this study, and how this differed from patients who were not hospitalized
  • Discuss how the rate of decline in specific cognitive domains changed in patients undergoing nonelective hospitalizations in this study compared with patients who were not hospitalized
