TRANSCRANIAL MAGNETIC STIMULATION DISTINGUISHES ALZHEIMER DISEASE FROM FRONTOTEMPORAL DEMENTIA

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Benussi et al, the participant should be able to:

  • Identify transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) paradigms shown in this study that can help differentiate between healthy controls and patients with Alzheimer disease (AD)
  • Describe the diagnostic test characteristics in this study of several TMS paradigms regarding their ability to distinguish frontotemporal dementia (FTD) from AD
  • Discuss the ability of TMS to assist in the diagnosis of AD and FTD in patients with mild disease severity as demonstrated in this study
