LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Forbes et al, the participant should be able to:

  • Explain the association between patient age and the development of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) in patients with prior zoster infection
  • Identify autoimmune conditions that place patients with recent zoster infection at high risk for the development of PHN
  • Discuss the association between certain medical comorbidities and the development of PHN
