LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the article by Vera et al, the participant should be able to:

  • Identify specific brain regions in which microglial activation is increased in HIV-positive individuals
  • Identify specific cognitive domains that are affected in HIV-positive individuals with increased microglial activation in the thalamus and hippocampus
  • Describe patient characteristics associated with increased microglial activation in the parietal cortex of HIV-positive individuals
